In this new Eportfolio entry I want to publish a new work done in class. It is a work where we had to look for and analyze information about the biography and life of a renowned author, she was called: Virginia Woolf. Also in the Literature classes we were lucky to have read one of his stories, “The Lady In The Looking Glass” and based on her biography relate the different topics that were presented in this amusing story.
We did the activity in pairs and I worked with Luz Esteban. In this one, Luz was in charge of analyzing a biography and I another about Virginia Woolf herself. However, in the last paragraph you can see an analysis we did together based on our summaries about it that we had done previously.
Here is our work:
I loved this activity, research and analysis because it made me known not only the life of this wonderful author, but also answers to her stories, why she deals with the different topics throughout her texts. I also loved the fact that we have dealt with the issue of women in the past. As over time its importance and role in society evolved. I think Virginia was a woman who fought for what she wanted, for the job she wanted and never prevented anyone from getting into what she loved, writing.
Here I leave the poem:
As when a little Girl
They put me in the Closet –
Because they liked me “still” –
Still! Could themself have peeped –
And seen my Brain – go round –
They might as wise have lodged a Bird
For Treason – in the Pound –
Himself has but to will
And easy as a Star
Look down opon Captivity –
And laugh – No more have I –
